(Dayton, OH) - There are more art galleries and art events in the Dayton-area than ever before.  Below are just a few of the art happenings you can check out during February and March:


DAYTON SKYSCRAPERS

Each year, Victoria Theatre Association partners with Shango: Center for the Study of African American Art and Culture, and Willis “Bing” Davis, exhibit curator and director of EbonNia Gallery, to display an exhibit of art by local African-American artists inside the Schuster Center.

Artists research and create artwork based off a living or deceased African-American who has excelled in their field or as community role model.
This years Skyscrapers include Nozipo Glenn, Jeff Mims, Norris Cole, Dave Chappelle, John Legend and several others.  The artwork can be viewed in the Wintergarden at the Schuster Center February 8-April 5, 2020:

Mon-Fri  9am - 6pm
Sat   12pm - 4pm
Sun Closed
The exhibit is closed during private events.

SAMURAI, GHOSTS AND LOVERS

Stunning and dramatic wood block prints from Tsukioka Yoshitoshi's (1839-1892).  Visual stories revolving around the figures in the exhibition title can be found throughout the exhibition.  

Pieces from DAI's Japanese collection, local and national loans, including Samurai armor, round out the collection.

Samurai, Ghosts and Lovers: Yoshitoshi's Complete 100 Aspects of the Moon, on view February 22 - May 3. This exhibition provides the rare chance to see all 100 works in Tsukioka Yoshitoshi's epic series 100 Aspects of the Moon.

THE ARTWORK OF RONNIE WILLIAMS

Ronnie Williams is an award winning artists who has been creating art professionally for over 40 years.  He has become a master painter whose portraits and murals now hang in many churches, cultural centers, institutions and businesses throughout the United States.

Several of Mr. Williams paintings and prints will be on display and available at the Edward A. Dixon Gallery throughout the month of February and March.  Take this opportunity to see artwork from one of Dayton's enduring and talented artists.

Hours for the gallery are:
Thu 4pm-7pm & Fri-Sat 12pm-4pm.
The gallery will also have special hours on February 28th from 5pm-8pm.
