Record Setting 2018 Formula 1 Season On Tap

(United States) - I've been a Formula 1 racing fan for over two full seasons now and the cars just keep getting faster and the action more exciting.  Testing this year appears to show the new cars will have faster race times this year and possibly closer race times between the top 3 teams (Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull)

The 2017 season Constructor and Driver championships were decided before the final race but leading up to that was plenty of drama from the front, middle and rear of the pack.  Early on it seemed to be Sebastian Vettel's season, but Lewis Hamilton eventually came out on top after just narrowly losing out to his former teammate, Nico Roseberg, for the 2016 championship.  Adding Valtteri Bottas to the Mercedes team they were able to capture the Constructor championship as well. However, one of the things I learned quickly about F1 racing from my first season is that teammates generally work together but don't always get along.

For the second year in a row, I was able to attend the United States Grand Prix in Austin, TX that saw Lewis Hamilton finish first with Ferrari locking up the rest of the podium. Learning more about more the race weekend flow and intricacies of race day strategies has really ignited my passion for the sport. I also like the fact the sport puts a lot of research and innovation into the cars and tracks to ensure drive safety.  I'm very curious to see the new mandatory Halo device in action this year.

This year's Team and Driver championships kick off at the Australian GP on March 25, 2018. Besides the race in Austin, TX, I hope to make one of the races overseas, preferably the historic Monaco GP.  Watching the race under the lights in Singapore would be thrilling as well.  You can check the full schedule here.

In addition to the F1 App that I use regularly, F1 is also launching F1 TV, a live Grand Prix subscription service. According to the website Formula 1 fans will get commercial-free live streams of each race with multi language commentary. In addition, the service will provide exclusive access to all 20 driver on-board cameras throughout every race session. F1 TV Pro will have unique feeds not available on any other platform with the capability of multi-level personalisation.

Subscribers will be able to choose the content they view and how and when they access it. All of practice, qualifying and races, will be offered live, along with press conferences and pre and post-race interviews. Subscribers will be able to watch live races of the main support series, the FIA Formula 2 Championship, GP3 Series and Porsche Supercup, among others.

Other changes for 2018 include new tracks on the racing circuit in France and Germany, as well as, the McLaren team switching from Honda to a Renault engine and a couple of new drivers. With new cars, increased access and new tracks I am more than ready for the new season to get started.

~ safe travels ~
