(Cincinnati, OH) - You sometimes have to travel to New York, Chicago or Los Angeles to find the world's most renowned luxury fashion brands. However, to find brands with the same quality and attention to detail the trip can be much shorter. I recently visited Cincinnati, OH to attend a trunk show featuring three very talented designers at the magnificent Obscura cocktail lounge. In future posts, I will highlight each designer I spoke with at the trunk show, but for now I want to focus on this wonderful cocktail lounge.
Obscura is a multi-leveled cocktail lounge situated in
Downtown Cincinnati right across the street from the acclaimed Aronoff
Center. The beautiful decor, upscale furniture and wide range of music of the lounge will draw you in, but what really stands out for me is the drink menu. I'm most at home at bars like Obscura's that feature signature cocktails, fresh & varied ingredients and the utmost attention to detail. I ordered a 'Make It Work' from the CLASSICS OBSCURED section of the menu and was not disappointed. The ingredients list included Togarashi Infused Don Julio, Pineapple, Tarragon, and Bubbles. To get the bubbles, the bartenders use a nifty device that acts as a shaker/ strainer/ bubble-infuser all-in-one. I'm sure there is a cocktail that will appeal to all patrons from one of the different sections of the drink menu including the Bartender's Choice or the For The Love Of Local section. You can watch these tasty, specialty drinks being made at the bar or on one of the lounges monitors that loop demonstrations. Obscura also hosts other special events, such as, art exhibits, fashion shows and recently hosted a Happy Hour for the
Cincinnati Reel Abilities Film Festival. In case you need another reason to visit, the lounge has a limited Savory & Sweet menu for those need a bite to eat while enjoying the sites, sounds and cocktails. Obscura was also one of the first places I've been to smart enough to have separate lavatories for Men and Women but a shared wash room. It's not only space-saving but also pretty cool. Do yourself a favor and check their calendar for the week and pick a day to sit and enjoy this extremely cool establishment.
