I met Brittany Stadtmiller, half of the Gem Steady team, in Downtown Cincinnati during a trunk show at upscale cocktail lounge Obscura where I learned about the Gem Steady story. Brittany and her husband, Robert, started the business from the ground up, with no experience just over 2 years ago. With an evolving style and a current collection they describe as classic fine jewelry with an edge, Brittany & Robert love creating more traditional styles and giving them an avant garde touch. The couple designs and then fabricates each piece with the help of Robert's previous construction experience building skateboard parks and life size Hot Wheels loops for Redbull, X-Games, and other major events. Everything is handmade inside their studio in Northern Kentucky and can sometimes take up to 40+ hours to create from start to finish. All of their gemstones are handpicked from trusted sources for their unique traits, sparkle, and beauty. Brittany & Robert melt, recycle, and form their own precious metals, bend them into rings, and sand their little fingers to the bone. They like to think of every piece of jewelry as a tiny sculpture. I appreciate the care & love that goes into their pieces and it's that sentiment that endears me to the smaller boutiques when it comes to buying custom items that may even one day become heirlooms.
When consulting with Gem Steady on a piece, you can work with sterling silver, 14k+ gold, platinum, diamonds, precious, and semi-precious gemstones. Every gemstone is hand selected for its unique beauty from trusted sources.
